XPeng going to L3 while dropping LIDAR is really interesting. Especially after LIDAR has come down in cost and bulkiness. Seems like a huge validation to Tesla's approach and an overlooked story. Do you see signs the broader Chinese EV market is moving in that direction as well?

Technologically this is the most interesting question. Seems like XPEV are in the Tesla camp now, and they are pushing boundaries on L3, so does seems like a strong argument. Li and Huawei don’t agree so I guess we’ll see soon enough. From what I gather the complexity of merging LiDAR and camera in to one field of vision may not be worth it, given the time it adds in processing, so it’s not even a pure cost argument. But yes if that’s the right path, it justifies Tesla’s approach. I want to do a full EV revision piece after my trip to China, that will be high up on the agenda.
